IZLEK: Labour Relations in the Field of Choreography in Istanbul;
With Four Different Examples From Four Generations
Discussing Choreographic Forms of Production
In four sessions to be held with presentations, film/video screenings and performances, we invite you to think and discuss together, the field of performing arts on labour and creation under the title of choreography.
These sessions are a continuation of the gathering organized under the name of İZLEK in 2008-2009, where choreographic works and dance-related documentaries were presented and discussed by the artists, theorists and other participants. İZLEK, works with the principle of "being a guest of the audience" and aims to contribute to the production of knowledge and memory formation in the field of performance arts.
In connection with amber'15's “Laboro Ergo Sum – I’m Working, Therefore I Am”, these sessions deal with topics such as the artist-performer relationship, virtuosity, craftsmanship, immaterial labour, volunteerism, autonomy, insecurity, flexibility, collectivism, working conditions, modes of production, and aesthetic relationship.
The excitement and movement of İZLEK, which aims to strengthen the practises of solidarity and struggle in the field of dance, stems from the necessity and urgency of implementing and putting into action the thoughts to be produced during these meetings.
